Baptism is a public declaration of faith, signifying a decision to follow Jesus and embrace a transformed life. It's a powerful symbol, representing our identification with Christ's death and burial as we're immersed in water, and our resurrection to new life as we emerge.
This act of obedience isn't about earning salvation, but rather demonstrating the inward transformation that's already occurred through faith in Jesus. As Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV) instructs, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Through baptism, we publicly declare our commitment to Christ and join a community of believers united in sharing His message.
